Kushina sighed as she strolled down the dark street. It was quite late, but she couldn’t seem to get to sleep, so a walk was just what the doctor ordered to make her tired. Her sigh froze in the chill night air, creating a clearly visible cloud of vapor in front of her face.
Stupid “Land of Fire,” she grumbled to herself. It gets cold in the winter, but never enough for it to snow. Cold is no fun without snow!

Uzumaki Kushina scowled in deep thought as she sat in her favorite tree—her “thinking tree”. It was an old, squat tree with thick branches that were easy to sit on and dense leaves that gave her privacy. It was a nice hideout that no one knew about except for her, and the perfect place to do something that she rarely did: think, long and hard.
I think I may have crossed a line somewhere…

That stupid boy makes me so mad!
Once her need for venting was through, she rolled over onto her back and glared peevishly at the crack in her ceiling.
Namikaze Minato was the village golden boy. He was well-mannered and generally friendly. He was a prodigy with ninjutsu. He was good-looking with sparkly blue eyes and sunny yellow hair.
